Past and present Epiphany Board members gathered to throw a surprise retirement party for Dr. Carlblom this week. He was presented with a plaque and several gifts he can enjoy after his retirement in June.

We had so much fun with Broadway star Thayne Jasperson - the only original castmember who remains in the award-winning musical "Hamilton." He's also starred in "Matilda," "Newsies," "High School Musical," and more! Here are some pictures of what our performing arts students were able to experience in Thayne's masterclass. TOMORROW NIGHT! The Gala & Auction is almost here! Here are a few more teacher experiences you can bid on in the silent auction. We'll see you there tomorrow night at 6:30. 1. ¡Vamos a la Playa! with Sra. Corona and Sra. Wawrzonek: Sunscreen time! Sra. Corona and Sra. Warwrzonek will take five rising 6th grade girls for a day at the beach between June 7th and 17th. Teachers will provide transportation, snacks, and ice cream at Dairy Queen. Students should bring money for lunch and shopping in Morehead City. TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED - WAIVERS REQUIRED. 2. ANOTHER STUDENT FAVORITE - Middle School Director for the Day: As the Director for the day experience for the Middle School, students will be able to pick three items from the following list - 1. Pick three friends to play in the gym for twenty "extra" minutes of gym time in the morning. 2. Make announcements and read the prayer during Gathering. 3. Initiate a dress down day (other than Friday) for MS students - dress code applies - this can take place through June 1. 4. Enjoy a Chick-fil-a picnic lunch outside for you and three of your friends provided by the school. (This gala item must be used by May 31)

Only TWO days left until the Epiphany Gala and Auction! Check out these silent auction items that were donated by the staff... 1. THIS IS A STUDENT FAVORITE! Director of The Lower School for the Day: One lucky student will do everything from directing carpool to running the daily activities to dismissal and everything in-between. This experience includes off-campus lunch at a restaurant of the student's choice. (To be used by the end of the current school year) 2. Pelican Sno at the Park for three with Mrs. Roussel: A Pelican Sno as big as we can get will start the day. Then we will head to the park. Yard games. Board games. Cartwheels. Handstands. You name it! I’m here for it. A half-day adventure (4 hours) with Mrs. Roussel. (You and two friends - to be used by the end of the summer 2023) 3. Park Outing with the Ronzheimers: Join Kirk and Calah Ronzheimer for a day at Martin Marietta Park. We'll play some games, explore the trails, and have a picnic. We can make the day fit the interests of your child and up to five of their friends. (to be used by the end of June) 4. Home Theater, Popcorn and Ice Cream afternoon with Sra. Campos and Sra. Forigua: One student can invite two friends to spend a Saturday afternoon at Sra. Campos' house watching movies, eating ice cream, and having fun ! (To be used by mid-June 2023) 5. Biking and picnic morning at Martin Marietta Park for fourth and fifth graders with Adriana Sanchez and Cristian Bilbao: We will spend the morning in September or October exploring the trails of Martin Marietta's park by bike. We will also enjoy a delicious picnic. Kids will need to bring their bike, helmet, and other protective gear. We'll do all of this while practicing some Spanish! (For you and three of your friends )

It's almost time for ArtWalk! Come see the Epiphany pop up art show at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown New Bern on Friday night. The ArtWalk map this month features a painting by Epiphany tenth-grader Bella DeSantis.

Only 3 days left until the Epiphany Gala & Auction! Here are some more teacher experiences you can bid on during the silent auction portion of the evening. 1. An evening under the stars with Mr. DeCamp and Mr. Willis: For this experience, you, your family, and up to two other families will journey out of town and away from the city lights to Jenkins Farm. We will begin the evening with food and fellowship around the fire and then as darkness settles, transition to a tour of the night sky using two Dobsonian Reflector telescopes. We will be observing Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and major constellations. We will also discuss mythology from the past, present NASA missions, and where our future is headed. (to be used in October thru December of 2023 for best weather and viewing conditions) 2. Cookies and Storytime with Santa: You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout, I'm telling you why - Santa Claus is coming to town! Santa will visit your home (December 2023) for cookies, cocoa, and a story read by Santa himself! 3. Movie Under the Stars with Mrs. Phelps: Enjoy a backyard movie with four of your friends (K-5) including popcorn, treats, and beverage. As the sun goes down we will get comfy on patio furniture and watch a fun (age-appropriate) movie while snacking on movie treats. (Date and time to be mutually agreed upon in the Fall of 2023) 4. Soccer lesson with Coach Carroll: You and one friend will enjoy a soccer lesson that will last for an hour and fifteen minutes minimum. The focus will be on dribbling and shooting. Lots of fun for those who are willing to learn ! (to be used before the end of June 2023) 5. An Evening at the Pool with Ms. Whitsett and Ms. Soreff: School is out June 2nd! Throw a two-hour end of the year (7-9 pm) private pool party for your child and 20 friends OR an entire grade level at the New Bern Country Club. This experience is offered to students in rising 3rd to rising 8th grades. We will provide simple food, water/lemonade and an ice cream bar along with music and games such as the coin dive, biggest splash contest, hula hoop, and limbo.

Here are some more teacher experiences you can win for your student at the Epiphany Gala & Auction on Saturday night - 1. One-hour gig performed by The Bonafides: This 9-piece band -- that includes Sr Delima and Mrs. Oliver -- will perform a one-hour concert at your event. We are primarily a band that plays Americana, bluegrass, old time, and some current hits with our own bluegrass twist. Find out more about us at bonafidesband.com. Date must be approved by the band. 2. Food Carving/Cake Decorating/Sushi Rolling with Darlene Verspoor: The winner of this experience will have the choice of learning the art of carving fruit, cake decorating, or how to roll sushi rolls. Maximum of six people - can be kids, adults, or a combination. (to be used by the end of the summer 2023 ) 3. One-hour basketball session with Coach Q: The winner and up to four friends can enjoy a one-hour basketball skills training session with Coach Quebedeaux. (to be used by the end of summer 2023) 4. Culture and Cooking with Kindergarten - Hannah All, Ana Lopez, Jasmine Williams, Nohora Cepeda: You and up to nine friends can join us for lots of food and fun! Students will learn to make a different delicious recipe from each teacher's cultural background and enjoy the yummy results. Be prepared for a sticky, messy, scrumptious time with the Kindergarten teachers! (date to be mutually agreed upon) 5. Baseball game with Mr. Bradley: Your mighty Falcon will attend a Morehead City Marlin collegiate summer wooden bat league baseball game with Mr. Bradley, Lower School's Physical Education Teacher. Your child will enjoy a game this summer at O'Neal Field at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City. You will also get a picture with Finn the Marlin mascot.

As we count down to the Epiphany Gala on Saturday (5 days left!), we're going to tell you about some of the items you can bid on at the silent auction. First up, we're diving into some of the teacher experiences you can win for your child or grandchild. These are very popular among our students - make their day by winning a special outing with their favorite teachers. Here are just a few examples: 1. Picnic and Poetry at the Park with Mrs. Smith: The winning student and three friends will join Mrs. Smith at Martin Marietta park for a picnic and poetry. We will play on the giant spider web climbing structure and explore the story walk as well! (to be used by the end of July 2023) 2. Golf Outing with Mrs. Gaskins: Mrs. Gaskins and 2 students (the winner and a friend grades 3-6) will play nine holes of golf at the Emerald Golf Club. A snack will also be provided by Mrs. Gaskins. 3. Deer Hunting with Sr Hearne: Sr Hearne will take a student deer hunting one afternoon following school in the Fall of 2023. Sr Hearne and the winning student will sit together in a stand and observe wildlife until dark, hoping to get a shot at a mature buck. 4. Golf Outing with Mrs. Williams: The winning student and one friend will go with Mrs. Cindy Williams to Dairy Queen and the Emerald Golf course for a fun afternoon of golf and ice cream! 5. Pizza and Pedicure with Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Smith: The winning student and three friends will enjoy a pedicure at a local nail salon with Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Smith. Afterwards we will have pizza for lunch. (to be used by the end of July 2023)

Our students will have art on display at ArtWalk this Friday. Please come to the Harrison Center at 311 Middle Street between 5 and 8 p.m. to support our art students. Free admission.

Congratulations to Epiphany senior Cadence Hight on winning the New Bern Woman's  Club Scholarship. This $2,500 award is to be used for tuition.  The Education Department also gives the winner $50. The award is based on scholastic records, community service work, extracurricular activities, financial need, unusual hardships, and leadership abilities.  The student also writes a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation are reviewed as part of the selection criteria. Cadence will be attending UNCSA in the Fall. Thank you to the New Bern Woman's Club for helping our community in so many ways.

During Easter break, 18 Upper School students, along with Mr. Seeger and Mrs. Soreff, traveled to Italy for a trip of a lifetime. Prior to the trip, the students took an elective called Italian Art & Architecture, which covered Ancient Rome to the Baroque, allowing the students to be well-versed in most of what was to be seen. The trip included one night in Assisi, two nights in Florence, and three nights in Rome. Plenty of gelato and pasta were consumed. Buon viaggio!

On our last day of the Epiphany family trip, we visited two beautiful German cities - Freiburg and Heidelberg. They reminded us a little of home. It was one more day to play, learn, shop, eat traditional food, and fellowship together. We saw a wine barrel as big as a house - it holds almost 59,000 gallons! We visited castle ruins, explored bell towers, and even constructed a human cathedral. That evening in the hotel, our lovely tour guide Sonia had us close our eyes and relive all of the incredible moments on our trip. It was very bittersweet...On the plane ride home, we all decided we're signing up for next year's trip to Italy. Please consider joining us! Information about that trip will be released very soon.

Continuing with photos from the Epiphany family trip, we had one very full, beautiful day in Switzerland! The weather was gorgeous. We rode cable cars to the top of Mt. Pilatus - one of the majestic peaks that towers over Lucerne. After riding up 7,000 feet, we toured around the visitor center and stepped outside into the snow. We even saw caves where the dragons live! After descending Mt. Pilatus, we traveled into the lovely city of Lucerne for sight-seeing and shopping. We walked the Chapel Bridge, saw the Jesuit Church, and toured the many beautiful landmark squares.

You have to come see Epiphany's musical theatre class and theatre tech class perform Emma JV this weekend!!! Our students and staff saw a preview today...It's amazing! The costumes are adorable! The characters are heartfelt and funny! And it's full of your favorite songs - just try not to sing along. You'll have three chances to see it - this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Trent Campus Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. We'll see you there!

Our Epiphany family trip adventures continue...we're going to show you a one-day road trip that took us through FOUR countries! We started in Munich at the Olympic Park stopping at Ettal Abbey, Linderhof Palace (home to the reclusive "fairytale King", King Ludwig II, crowned in 1864). We saw the beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle - as majestic as the alps surrounding it - briefly driving through Austria, and on to Liechtenstein (Vaduz). We eventually stopped at a beautiful hotel near the water's edge in Weggis, Switzerland.

Today we're sharing pictures from the Salzburg and Berchtesgaden day of our family trip with Epiphany. We watched "The Sound of Music" on the bus on the way to Salzburg, with the beautiful Alps as our backdrop. Once we arrived, we visited the famous spots from the movie in addition to the birthplace and residence of Mozart. After some souvenir shopping, we rode to the salt mine in Berchtesgaden, where visitors go to celebrate the uninterrupted 500-year mining of "white gold" from the depths of the Alps. We slid down two slides (110 feet and 140 feet into the shaft). We rode a boat on mirror lake, we took a fast train deep into the cave, and we learned how pumps and drills made salt mining more efficient through the 500-year history of the Petersberg tunnel.

Epiphany's Musical Theatre class is performing "Emma JV" this weekend (7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday). Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets will be available for sale at the door.

Epiphany family trips have returned in a BIG way! Thirty-four travelers (even three generations of one family) went to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein with EFTours over Spring Break. Each day this week, we'll show you the amazing experiences we had in all four countries. Please consider joining us for next year's family trip to Italy.
