A big Thank You to Hutch Smith, class of 2022, and Eagle Scout candidate for creating and installing our new outdoor amphitheater for the Lower School. The students are already enjoying your handiwork. Thanks also to Landon, Stephen, Parker, John, Kirby, and Nathan for your help and to Garris Evans for donating the materials.

Each grade level at the Lower School has a service partner or service focus that they work on throughout the school year. Kindergarten focuses on community helpers and creates goodie bags and cards for the helpers in New Bern and the surrounding community. Most recently, they sent bags to CarolinaEast. In thanks, they sent us pictures of their staff with their cards and treats with a note saying, "The staff were VERY excited to receive them and LOVED the pictures! The drawings really do brighten up our days." Goodies went to hospitalists and to the COVID units.
THANK YOU to all of our health care workers and to ALL of our community helpers!

This afternoon students in grades 3-5 had the opportunity to Zoom live with best-selling author Chris Grabenstein! Over the last few weeks, students have been reading his latest book, The Smartest Kid in the Universe. Mr. Grabenstein first shared a very funny, very engaging presentation about how he became an author--it wasn't easy! He also talked about how he got the idea for his latest book. Students asked perceptive questions, some dressed up as characters from the book, and all enjoyed Tootsie Pops and jellybeans. You'll have to read the book to find out why!
